Jesus Christ knocked upon the door of my heart many years ago; I invited Him in and have never regretted it.

The book of Joel speaks volumes of our situation in the United States today: “locusts” ravaging our economy.

“Hear this, you leaders of the people. Listen, all who live in the land. In all your history, has anything like this happened before? Tell your children about it in the years to come, and let your children tell their children. Pass the story down from generation to generation.

After the cutting locusts finished eating the crops, the swarming locusts took what was left! After them came the hopping locusts, and then the stripping locusts, too!  Joel 1:2-4

The Prophet Joel speaks of what is coming:

“The day of the Lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can possibly survive?”                    Joel 2:11

“That is why the Lord says, ‘turn to me now while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.

Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve, sending you a blessing instead of this curse. Perhaps you will be able to offer grain and wine to the Lord your God as before.” Joel 2:12-14

Oh, that we who belong to Almighty God would fall on our knees in repentance of our sins and in prayer for our country.  If we don’t know history, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. If we don’t know the Bible, His Word, we are doomed to miss God’s warnings and promises.
